But only from his nose!

Our second game of the season and we were home again, with the weather proving to be the main concern. The rain did clear in time for kick off and it was Bloxham who got the game underway, starting with the same 3-5-2 formation that had proved to be promising in game 1. Much of the first quarter saw both teams getting used to the conditions with the majority of balls over the top being dealt with by both keepers or seeing the offside flag raised. Bloxham were winning the midfield battle, finding a bit more space and time to look for the killer pass.

Honington's keeper had played the game on the edge of his area, which worked for most of the balls over the top, however, Matty had clocked his position and when he found himself in a bit of space, on the edge of our box, if you ask Matty, or 40 yards out in reality he cleared the keeper and found the back of the net. A decent strike how ever far out it was and took him to joint top scorer!

As has been our downfall in the past we needed to see out the remainder of the half and keep our focus to maintain the lead. It had only been a freekick that had given Scott any concern up to that point and their second freekick, outside the box, proved to be decisive. Whilst we worried about setting up a wall they took it quickly and scored from the right hand side of the box. The only other chance of the half fell to Knaggsy who powered his header over the bar when left unmarked in the box. 1-1 at half time.

Having largely been in control of the game it was as we were for the second half, looking for that little bit of composure or quality that was going to get us the lead back. Ray dropped into the back 3 and I took on the wing back role, which nearly had some success as I flew past their right back and cut the ball back to an on rushing Matty, who couldn't get his shot away and the chance went. Matty then turned provider as he found space on the left wing and delivered a back post cross for Gary to get onto. It needed to fall into his run but his stretch could only knee it past the post. It was all Bloxham and we looked dangerous on corners but the turning point came as Scrap rose from a corner and ended up on the ground with a lump on his head and a nose bleed. In fairness their player came off worse, needing a trip to A&E! Ant came on and the back 3 was shuffled again but it was only a couple of minutes before we had another enforced change as Ant's ankle problem resurfaced and Neil made his debut for the Vets. Our consistency had been given a knock and we took a while to settle with balls over the top to their quickest player giving us some problems. The winning goal came from a cross on their left that got a lucky bounce of one of their players into the path of another who stabbed it home and we were again facing the feeling of having been robbed.

As always we kept playing our game and tried to force a reply but it just wasn't to be and we go home with that feeling of disappointment again. Our time is coming and when it does some team is going to wish they hadn't met us!
