Bloxham show true grit
Not even the weather could dampen Bloxham determination.
Bloxham travelled to witney to play tower hill.The weather was wet and cold and the pitch was slippy.
It was going to be a though morning of football and would be interesting to see how the players cope with the conditions.
tower hill kicked off and put Bloxham under pressure from the start.
Bloxham seemed to struggle by giving the ball away needlessly and that gave tower hill more time on the ball and to come straight back at Bloxham and create chances to have shots at goal.
Bloxham created a few chances but nothing that troubled the tower hill defence.
Max Carter saved everything that was served up at him and bloxham went in at halftime 0-0.
After a posisivtive team talk about were they can improve Bloxham went out with a spring in there step and it showed as straight from the kick off Bloxham attacked and started to create better chances passing the ball better and pinning tower hill in there half and with all that pressure it payed off when Bloxham won a corner.
Max L took the corner and it was volleyed in by Alfie john into the top left hand corner with great technique 0-1.
Bloxham kept up the pressure creating chance after chance there keeper was in top form making some good saves.
the last 5mins was a bit nail biting as Bloxham started to run out of steam and tower hill started to create chances but nothing to troubling.
As tower hill pushed forward they left space behind them which Bloxham tried to take advantage of but couldn't get control of the ball as it skidded off the surface.
Review: Bloxham struggled at the start as they just kept giving the ball away cheaply and were struggling with the conditions.
As the match went on Bloxham got better and stronger and the determination started to show and it was that determination that got them the win as they all battled and won there tackles and there passing got better and they adapted well to the conditions.
MOM: Max Carter did really well in goal made some good saves but not only that he had to keep his concentration in awful conditions.
Max judge the shots well as the ball skidded off the surface and never panicked a well composed display well done.
Bloxham were up for the second match and wanted the second match to kick off.
As soon as the ref blew his whistle Bloxham applied the pressure and tower hill were struggling as Bloxham created chance after chance but just couldn't seem to applie the finish until Barney closed down a tower hill player who miss passed the ball to Matt who fired it into the top corner from 25yrds 0-1.
It was only about 2 mins when again when Taylor won the ball with good pressure and passed it to Barney who laid it of to Matt who placed it into the bottom left hand corner 0-2.
Bloxham were flying and creating chances there ball control was much better than in the first match.
some good closing down by Barney let Alfie J surge forward and get the ball to calmly finish 0-3.
Bloxham kept passing the ball round well but tower hill did a good counter attack and scored from it 1-3.
Tower hill managed to score again but this time from a corner to make it 2-3.
Bloxham didn't panic and stuck to there style of play and it paid off when Alfie john ran forward and got into tower hills box were he could of shot but instead squared it to Barney who tapped it into an empty net 2-4.
tower hill pushed forward and managed to get another goal 3-4.
As tower hill pushed forward they were leaving gaps at the back which Bloxham took advantage off when Alfie broke free and was one on one with the keeper and slotted it into the bottom right had corner 3-5.
Review: Bloxham played well in the first half but took there foot off the gas in the second half and conceded some sloppy goals but Bloxham pulled themselves together and saw the game out well with some good defending.
MOM: with Bloxham conceding 3 goals my man of the match goes to Alfie p as he was solid at the back won all his tackles and made some great forward passes and also did just enough to beat a player then pass it.
