Bloxham overcome conditions
Bloxham travelled to charlton in there last group cup game,The weather was cold and the pitch was bogey with the grass a bit long and the pitch on a slight slope.
After seeing the state of the pitch Bloxham knew it was going to be a tough morning.
As the game kicked off Bloxham took control and actually passed it well despite the conditions and were reward after 3mins into the game when MAX.L broke down the wing and crossed it for ED to stab it in. 0-1
After scoring the opener so quickley Bloxham seemed to sit back a bit and let charlton get into the game.
Charlton managed to get a shot on goal which went in as no Bloxham player closed down the opposition. 1-1
The equalizer woke Bloxham up and they started going forward again with purpose and it was MAX.L again with a strong run down the right wing and a pinpoint cross for ED the poacher to score.1-2
half time 1-2.
second half :
Bloxham carried on the way they did in the first half dominating possession and creating chances and it was max who again found space down the right wing and passed the ball to KIERA who danced through the charlton defence like john travolta to score.1-3
Bloxham were playing some really good football making some good moves on and off the ball.
It was RYAN who set up the last goal when he broke down the left wing and beat a player with some neat footwork and laid it off to ED who ran down the left wing and struck it with his left foot which the keeper could do nothing about as it thundered past him into the top right corner. 1-4
Bloxham saw the rest of the game out comfortably.
final score 1-4
Review:Bloxham did really well considering the state of the pitch.
It took them a while to get used to the pitch but when they did they were really good and used the width well.
The only thing that was missing was not enough communication but apart from that a really good performance.
MOM:Difficult one with ED scoring a hattrick and MAX.L making 3 assists but i gave it to ED just because his 3rd goal was a thunder bolt of a finish and he closed the opposition defence down non stop well done.
The second match was different to the first with both teams creating chances but it was Charlton that scored first when Bloxham switched off at the back for them to score.1-0
Bloxham created chances but couldn't beat the keeper who was having a really good first half and Charlton grew in confidence to score another one when no one closed the player down which left him to have a free shot on goal and score 2-0.
After a really good positive team talk Bloxham went out and played with a bit more energy and were rewarded when they won a corner and Kiera found Max.L with the cross who finished it well.
Bloxham suddenly had a spring in their play and it was another corner that Ed took this time which Kiera controlled and laid of the Max.L who finished it 2-2.
Bloxham started to believe and they took the game by the scruff of the neck and pushed forward to try and score a third and it was Alfie Smith got the ball and ran at the defence charlton couldn't stop him and he rifled it past the keeper 2-3.
Bloxham were buzzing and Matthew set up Alfie Smith who again beat the Charlton defence with his pace to score another 2-4.
And that's how the match finished.
Review: A slow start and we were punished for that, but the players came out in the second and played much better but like the first match still not enough communication but overall a good performance.
MOM:goes to James who made some good saves but also kicked the ball from his hands which was great to see well done and keep practicing.
