Goals needed for christmas
By Andrew Knaggs
Bloxham played well but lacked the killer instinct
Bloxham made the long journey to grendon on a fresh cold misty morning.
grendon started the game and had a chance at goal straight away but there effort went wide after that it was all Bloxham passing was good and movement on and off the ball was good the thing that let them down was the finishing with chance after chance going begging surely it was only time before Bloxham scored but as halftime approached and the chances were being missed would it be one of those games?
Second half was much like the first with Bloxham having all the possession and creating all the chances but not finishing them.
with grendon playing with 3 sometimes 4 at the back Bloxham were struggling to finish their chances and as Bloxham kept attacking it was Grendon who kick a long ball forward to one of their players who uses his pace to beat the Bloxham defender and hits it past the keeper 1-0.
Bloxham weren't phased by that goal and carried on playing good football but just couldn't finish and grendon again did the long ball to their forward who smashed it at goal but max made a great diving save and caught the ball and kept hold of it.
Bloxham piled on the pressure but in the end had to settle with the 1-0 result.
MOM:Max did not have much to do during the match but always had to stay alert and keep concentrating and pulled off a great save to keep Bloxham in the game.
Review:Bloxham dominated the match and did not deserve to lose the match a draw would have been a fair result as they only created 3 chances and Bloxham created about 20 but if you don't score well this is what happens.
the positives to take from this match is we never gave up and we created the chances to miss.
Bloxham had learnt from the first game and realized that they would have to shoot from distance to have a chance of scoring as there were too many defenders to pass through them.
grendon took center and straight away were on the attack.
Bloxham started slowly and it was grendon that took the lead 1-0.
Bloxham soon responded with some great passing which won them a corner Alfie p took the corner and it was Riley who turned it into the back of the net 1-1.
Suddenly there was a little spring the Bloxham play and the players started to play better not only as a team but as individuals.
Alfie s showed the way when he got the ball and made a solo run from the back into the grendon half beating 4 players a finishing it what a goal 1-2.
Bloxham carried on dominating the half but one mistake gave grendon a free kick.
The grendon struck the ball and it took a wicked deflection and went into the back of the net 2-2.
Bloxham knew what they had to do and they kept to their style passing the ball well and quicker but also were taking shots from distance and it was that sort of play which got Bloxham their third when again some good work at the back by Alfie s who passed it to Ellis who ran with it and hit it from distance and watched it sneak past the keeper 2-3.
it was all bloxham know creating chance after chance with Rylie hitting the post and also making the keeper pull off some good saves.
grendon couldn't get out there half as every time they got the ball Bloxham won it back and it was Rylie who broke down the right beating 2 players passed it to Alfie p who passed it to Taylor who calmly hit it past the keeper 2-4.
full time 2-4
MOM:Alfie s played really well at the back but also brought the ball out of defence and set up the attacks played with so much confidence and just seems to make everything look easy starting to turn into a really good player.
Review: Bloxham played really well carrying on from the first match but this time finishing their chances and could have easily had 3 or 4 more.
Just need to close the opposition down quicker but apart from that they did everything else well.
