Cold Start on a cold morning

Lessons not learnt from last week

Bloxham travelled to chadlington on a cold morning to play in there first cup game of the group.
Bloxham kicked off and were positive going forward but lacked the quality in the final third and waited to long to make decisions on whether to shoot or pass which made it easy for the chadlington defence to close down and tackle.
Bloxham created one bit of magic when Alfie john passed to Alfie Prentice made a good through ball which Taylor latched onto and scored.0-1
Bloxham were struggling to find their rhythm as chadlington were closing down well and seemed more determined to win tackles were Bloxham were just sticking there leg out hoping to win the ball and were eventually punished when a bloxham defender swung his leg and missed the ball completely and brought a chadlington player down to concede a free kick which chadlington scored to make it 1-1.
second half kicked off and Bloxham were still asleep as Chadlington seemed more determined to win there tackles and they got there second when Bloxham got caught by a counter attack which chadlington went on to score.2-1
When the second goal went in Bloxham perked up and started to play with a bit more enthusiasm but there passing and tackling was still way ward and it was another free kick that gave chadlington their third goal when Bloxham gave away a free kick and didn't pick up or get into their positions quick enough and chadlington scored when a chadlington player did an over head and lobbed the keeper to score it was a good goal with a bit of luck.
That third goal seemed to knock the wind out of Bloxham even though they did create a few chances but like the first half took to long to shoot.
full time 3-1

MOM:Alfie john even though he did not stick to his position he did work his socks off as he chased every ball all over the pitch.
Review: Well not the best performance we need to apply pressure from the start and not rush in like headless chickens into tackles we also need to keep to are positions and communicate.
there was some good passing at times especially the one that lead to Taylor's goal but there was to much kick first time and hope it would go to a team mate.
so all in all alot we need to work on in training but i know and they know they played below par in this match.

2nd match
After the first match Bloxham were a little bit down but they all knew where they needed to improve.
Bloxham kicked off and it was a bit like the first match were the players were holding onto the ball a bit to long.
Chadlington broke free and ran at the Bloxham goal James came out the chadlington player shot but James was out of position but Ryan came from nowhere and cleared it off the line but it fell to there player who struck it at an open goal but Ryan had got up and tried to header it but hand balled it instead penalty.
The player put the ball down on the spot and took it straight away and scored before the ref had blown his whistle and the keeper was ready the ref said hey then said ok you can have it when it should have been retaken and the player should have waited for the whistle to be blown but there you go Bloxham find themselves 1-0 down.
That goal seemed to spark life into the team and Bloxham struck back within 4mins when Rylie spotted Matthew free in space passed him the ball and Matthew ran towards the chadlington goal and scored 1-1.
chadlington kicked off the second half but bloxham won the ball back straight away and you could see the players passing the ball better Ryan was making some good runs down the wing and Ed started to make some good runs up front.
Matthew was getting his tackles in and winning them in midfield and made a good through ball to Ed who ran free of the defence and calmly knocked it passed the keeper 1-2.
Suddenly there was a spring in Bloxhams step you could literally see the confidence flow through the team and it was Ryan who bombed down the left wing beating 2 players with his quick feet got to the bye line crossed it in but it was just out of reach for Taylor.
Again Ryan went down the left wing cut in and took a shot beat the keeper but couldn't beat the post.
Alfie Prentice won the ball in midfield when their keeper threw the ball out which fell to Alfie Prentice who ran at goal beat one player and rifled it past the keeper 1-3.
It was Ryan who got involved in the forth when he picked up the ball on the left wing drew in 2 players beat them ran with it saw Ed knocked it to him who ran at goal and scored 1-4.
Bloxham were full of confidence with players trying out little flicks and back heals it was great to watch but they got caught in possession when chadlington won the ball and broke free into the Bloxham half and were through on goal to score 2-4.
Bloxham weren't bothered as they kept passing it about and trying things out they could of had a few more goals but their keeper made some good saves full time 2-4.
MOM:Ryan made some really good runs down the wing and did his skills while on the move but what was good to see was his passing looking up and getting the ball into the box and passing the ball when he got free from a player which has been his achilles heel this season.
Review:Like the first match Bloxham started slowly and it needed them to go behind to spark them into life but saying that they played some good football passing it about well there work rate was better and they kept their positions better.
It was good to see players try new ways to pass the ball like back heels and flicks and knowing when to do it and most importantly doing it in the opposition's half.
the only down side was the slow start and how the goals were conceded other than that a good half by the players
