Hard fought victory makes it 4 wins in a row!

The following events all happened but not necessarily in the right order and with lesser or greater levels of exaggeration!

A knocked together team of players, consisting of stalwarts, debutants and previously retired players took to the pitch looking to continue the good form the Vets are in. Tiddington were the opponents, themselves managing to scramble 12 players in time for kick off.

It didn't take long for Bloxham pressure to count as the Tiddington keeper failed to clear a back pass, landing it in Matty's path who delicately chipped it back over him for 1-0. The scoreline was quickly doubled with Gary making a run down the right and sliding it into Aaron who slotted it home for 2-0. It felt like it was only going one way but Tiddington did start to apply pressure of their own, forcing a corner. Teezer lost all sense of social distancing, as the ball was whipped in, climbing over his opponent and conceding a penalty. Scott stood up tall and got a superb hand onto the spot kick, tipping it over the bar. Unfortunately they were given a second go, minutes later, as Pez, who controlled midfield all game, was judged to have man handled a player from another corner and this time the spot kick was put away, for 2-1.

An eventful first half was also interrupted by one of the Tiddington players dog rooting himself in the Bloxham defence. It took a brave dog whisperer to approach the ferocious beast, who was drooling at the mouth, and lead him back to the sidelines, allowing the game to commence. Bloxham took a strong hold of the game, from here, with Aaron adding his second of the game and Scrap heading in Bloxham's 4th. Gary saw his header came back off the bar as it could have been more than 4-1 at half time.

One change was made at half time as I came on to save the centre circle getting too warn by Paul and it was my first through ball to Jack that he rushed onto before laying off to Matty before collapsing in a heap. Jack, believing he must have been sithed down, quickly realised it was his achilles that popped when he was informed there was no one within 20 yards of him. It gave Peter his chance up front, with Aaron dropping back into midfield.

It became a story of injuries for a bit as Aaron was next to feel the pain when opposition studs found their way through the boot. It was the end of his game and Paul was back on for a fleeting few minutes. Tiddington then suffered an injury leaving them with 10 men so Paul, sportingly, volunteered himself to stand down leaving the teams level at 10 each. It proved to be the boost Tiddington needed as they made a come back with a referee assisted second as his free drop was wellied into the top corner much to the surprise of all. Their third came after a Bloxham corner with a counter attack down the right that was fed in and fired past Scott from close range. It was suddenly game on!

Bloxham weren't without their own chances with Peter introducing the step over, previously unseen in a Bloxham shirt and then hitting the bar. Gary also found the back of the net but it was ruled out for offside before the most tragic of offsides was given. Peter, having found space on the edge of the box, shot towards the bottom corner with the keeper getting a hand to it but only to push it free. I responded quickest, found the net and set off on my victory lap before realising the ref and linesman had colluded to find away of calling it offside.

There was one final chance for Tiddington, as the ball flashed across the face of the goal, just needing a touch, but it wasn't to be and Bloxham continued their run to make it 4 on the bounce.

Fingers crossed Jack and Aaron have a speedy recovery and will be back on pitch soon.
